About Me 自己紹介

My name is Tashi Rabgey, a Tibetan-American from Seattle, Washington. I attended Washington State University, where I graduated cum laude with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in public relations from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.  Before relocating to Japan, I worked for Edelman Public Relations, the largest independent public relations company in the world.  At Edelman, I was a member of the public relations account team that launched Microsoft’s first generation Xbox video game console worldwide.  I have nine years of teaching experience and have a Post Baccalaureate Certification in Teaching English through Seattle University’s Graduate College of Education. Previously, I taught English at public elementary and junior high schools in Japan on the Japanese Exchange Teaching program.  After which, I taught privately at an International Language School, teaching students of all ages and levels, from pre-school to adult classes for enrolled students. I was also outsourced to teach English classes at local community centers, various businesses, kindergartens, and universities.  Presently, I am a freelance English teacher and consultant for private and public institutions, working under my own outsource teaching services brand, Seattle English Teachers, Inc.  My teaching experiences include producing a series of English learning CDs, specifically for young children in Japan.  In addition, I developed an original 5-step English language testing system for pre-elementary school students, which is applied and promoted by 5 Star, a private English language school where I oversee the school’s English curriculum and teaching uniformity as its Head Teacher.  This blog, MY LIFE AND TIMES was created to keep in touch with my family, friends and students.  Also, to introduce myself and share my life experiences with people from around the world.  Please feel free to leave a reply below, or email me at tashirabgey@gmail.com  Thanks for visiting my site!

私は、ワシントン州シアトル市出身のチベット系アメリカ人で、タシ・ラブギーと申します。コミュニケーション学、広報活動専門の学位を持ってワシントン州立大学を優等で卒業しました。第二専攻として、ホテルとレストランの運営を勉強しました。卒業後は世界最大規模を誇るＰＲ会社、Edelman Public Relationsに勤務し、多忙な勤務の傍ら、恵まれない子供たちに勉強を教えたり、学童保育（Boys and Girls Club of America）でボランティア活動に参加したり、英語を母語としない大学生の論文指導を引き受けたりするなど、当時から指導経験を積んできました。

日本での英語指導経験は約9年あります。2003年7月に財団法人自治体国際化協会が主催するJETプログラムの外国語指導助手（ALT）として来日し、徳島市内の公立小中学校で3年間指導いたしました。その後、徳島市の英会話学校に入社し、幼児から大人まで幅広い年齢層、レベルの生徒を担当していました。地域のカルチャーセンターや各種学校から委託され、徳島大学でのTOEICクラス、徳島ふれあい健康館、社会保険センター、NHKカルチャーセンター、富田ナーサリー幼稚園では４年間出張指導もいたしました。そして、シアトル大学の大学院で英語教育研修を受けて、資格を取得しました。

英語を教える傍ら、幼児向けの英語学習ＣＤをシリーズでプロデュースし、さらに、就学前の子供たちのために、「5-step」というオリジナルの英語試験システムも開発しました。現在、自身の英語教師派遣サービス事業「シアトル・イングリッシュ・ティーチャーズ（Seattle English Teachers, Inc.）」において、公立・私立教育機関での英語指導と英語教育のコンサルタントをしています。

趣味はスポーツをすることや観ることです。学生時代はバスケットボール、テニスのチームに所属していました。徳島に来てからは四国88ヶ所を全て廻り終え、うどんが大好きになりました。:)
